(New in Avo) Assigned reviewers: branch collaboration just got easier

Defining tracking is rarely a one-person job, especially in a big organization. So you often need to align with multiple stakeholders on the changes you’re making to the schema, to make sure the changes…

  • Fit your data needs
  • Match the data design standards and conventions of your organization
  • Don’t negatively impact other teams using the data you are changing
  • Are feasible for implementation

We’ve now expanded on the review workflow in Avo to allow you to assign reviewers directly to a branch, ensuring everyone is clear on who owns the next steps.

Learn more about assigning branch reviews here.

Connect to Slack for real-time review alerts

Users in your workspace will automatically get an email when their review has been requested. But you can also set up Slack alerts for your workspace to deliver real-time notifications and prevent things slipping between the cracks.

And because great data shouldn’t mean slow data, here’s two more ways we’re bringing speed to your schema: in-line creation and smart search.

Design beautiful data, faster with in-line creation

Last month we released in-line creation, a way to design great data with the speed and ease of the traditional spreadsheet (without the limitations of a spreadsheet 😉).

And now it’s here. In-line creation means you can easily tab between cells in the events view to spin up new events and flesh them out.

Paired with bulk editing, you’re now able to draft and polish heaps of events in a flash, while giving that good ole cursor a break. 🖱️

Use in-line creation to:

✅ Create events directly from the branch workbench

✅ Make quick inline edits to event names

✅ Catch discrepancies with built-in guardrails

In-line creation removes a ton of friction when it comes to creating new event data. But you always check your library of events before making new ones. Let’s look at how Smart Search makes this process fast and easy.

Avoid duplicates and find things quickly with Smart Search

Did you ever head to the supermarket, thinking “I wonder if I have avocados?” decide to buy some just in case and then return home only to find you already had three?

A little annoying, but not nearly as annoying as having three (or thirteen) duplicate events for the same thing. To help you discover what already exists in your pantry schema, we’ve released a powerful upgrade to our search function, so you can easily find what you need and avoid reinventing the wheel.

Just as before, you can leverage the good old CMD+K to bring up the search bar. But this time your search will yield “Smart matches” — showing you event synonyms or close approximations.

Want to try out Smart Search for yourself? Opt in for Avo Intelligence to unlock this upgrade for your workspace.

I hope that these updates will help you create beautiful data  this year. But tell us what you think: how could we support you towards better event data design in 2025?
